Civil War Service Record

My ancestor, William Willard, lived in the county of Carroll in Virginia. His wife was Mary Ann Gray. They were married about 1845 and had eight children. In April of 1862 he enlisted for service in the 45th VA Infantry. The 45th Infantry Regiment was formed in May, 1861, with men from Tazewell, Wythe, Grayson, Carroll, and Bland counties. He was captured by the enemy on 05 June 1864 at Piedmont, VA
Confined as POW on 07 June 1864 at Camp Morton, IN
He was exchanged and made it home to live until 1915.
